Serving Central Texas and clients worldwide since 2013

NeumannUX LLC is marking its 10th year in Austin by setting new goals for the next 10. One of these is to improve digital accessibility for businesses of all sizes and functions across Austin (and beyond). Accessibility is attainable by organizations with limited resources, and it’s a mission that can be fulfilled over time.

Awareness of Digital Accessibility has exploded in recent years. Now is the time to take action and make a difference in the lives of others, while opening new markets and ensuring your business conforms to the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

We offer several ways to support your organization:

  • Project-based consulting from general Accessibility education, speaking engagements with teams and leaders, to providing in-depth strategic and tactical plans for the integration of Accessibility into your organization.

In addition to the UX Design components, our work includes focus on the business and product goals, engineering process refinement, design systems (if applicable), and validation/measurement.

  • WCAG accessibility conformance evaluations of your digital product and service offerings, including web and mobile apps.

Includes detailed recommendations for Design and Development.

  • We can assist individuals and teams who want to achieve CPACC certification through the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals).

We’ll manage schedules, provide study resources and guidance on key topics.

Dr. Neumann is a certified CPACC exam proctor. We can set the CPACC exam date to meet your schedule and even arrange a private sitting for your team to take the exam together.

  • Dr. Neumann is one part coach, one part evangelist, one part professor, and a 20-year veteran of the Technology, Financial Services, and Healthcare industries.

Few in Austin have the track record of inspiring others to attack Product, UX, and Accessibility challenges like John. He can help your teams galvanize around common goals, and become more active participants in the evolution of your organization.

  • Evaluations of product and service offerings with the intended users. This includes users with or without disabilities. Understand the “why” behind user actions, in addition to capturing relevant quantitative data. Available for studies both on-site and remote.

We’re highly skilled in experimental design and data analysis, and proficient with all the tools of the trade. From eye-tracking to site navigation to content comprehension, we’ll uncover how well your offerings map to the expectations of your customers and users.

  • “If you’re looking for insights on the best ways to attract and retain creative UX talent, I work directly and indirectly with team members and leaders to help ensure healthy UX cultures and inspired work through coaching and leadership development.

If you need to improve any aspect of your product design and development process, such as realizing efficiencies through better Design and Engineering collaboration, put my experience and passion to work for you and your teams. I’ve solved some of the most difficult process and integration challenges across Technology, Healthcare, and Finance.”

In 2020, Dr. Neumann (John) started as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas iSchool with the launch of the first Master’s-level Accessibility course in Texas. The program is now in year 3, and the response has exceeded all expectations. In early 2023, he agreed to author and launch an undergraduate version of Digital Accessibility, and we’re happy to say the students are just as inspired at both levels. Together with UT program administrators, they’ve expanded the curriculum even further with the addition of more qualified professors to teach the domain, and new courses to cover more topic areas and projects.

John is also currently working with Knowbility.org as a member of their Advisory Board. This is a volunteer role, and we’re focused on the upcoming AccessU Conference here in Austin, Texas May 9-12.

Prior to UT, he served on the Advisory Council at Austin Community College, and authored their capstone Design Research course.

Smartphones are an amazing tool for everyone, and the major app stores require apps to be accessible in order to be listed.
